Adrien Brody, Brady Corbet and Felicity Jones—The Brutalist special
Film stories on A Rabbit's Foot this week
The building is screaming: Brady Corbet on The Brutalist
Before The Brutalist achieved its sweeping success at the Golden Globes, director Brady Corbet joined A Rabbit’s Foot at the Modernist Isokon flats in Hampstead, London for an unique and intimate photoshoot by Creative Director Fatima Khan. Interviewed by his friend, the director Fridtjof Ryder (of the 2022 drama Inland), the setting was a studied decision: the top floor is a space that welcomed some of the very architects that inspired Adrien Brody’s László Toth, The Brutalist’s leading role. Now online, Corbet discusses WG Sebald, ambient tyranny, and why he is always making movies about sex, love and death.
Felicity Jones: in a new direction
“The physical frailty, but also the emotional and spiritual force of Erzsébet is consistent... She is someone who has an incredible will to live.” Following a career-defining performance in Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist as Erzsébet—for which she has now received an Academy Award nomination in the Best Supporting Actress category—Felicity Jones talks to Digital Editor Kitty Grady about Dogme 95 (“As my time gets more compressed...the more I feel driven and decisive in my work,”) channelling Isabelle Huppert (“There was something in the role of Erzsébet that reminded me of her work”) and the power of creative partnership.
